Ari Magg

Ari Magg was born in Iceland, and like most people who work in the visual arts, he is influenced by his roots. His characteristic style and vision is a reflection of the unique environment in the North Atlantic. He was only 19 when he started his professional career in photography, having learned the technical skills from his father, who is also a photographer. His obvious talents were quickly noticed and for the last two decades he has been the leading advertising photographer in Iceland. Professionally, he's has often worked in close collaboration with agencies to create a unique vision for clients. They include Motorola, General Electric, Campbell's, Vodafone, William Grant and Sons, Iceland Telecom, The National Bank of Iceland, 66° North and Icelandair, as well as editorial photo stories for various international magazines such as Monocle, Time Magazine, Wallpaper, I-D Magazine, The Sunday Times and Observer Magazine. Ari has held lectures and seminars in Sweden and Russia and held private exhibitions in Washington DC and St. Petersburg, Russia as well as in Reykjavík. Ari's work has been acknowledged with many awards for outstanding achievement in photography, receiving the European EPICA awards in 2005 and 2006 for this work for 66° North among other prestige awards. Ari owns and runs his studio and production company, Magg, in downtown Reykjavik but splits his time between Reykjavik and New York.
