ASKXXI: Arts + Science Knowledge Building and Sharing in the XXI Century: a pioneering exchange program fostering US- Chile cooperation and collaboration in arts, emerging digital/virtual technologies and the ecological sciences. Our 2018 pilot program is offered as a Certificate Diploma by the UCSC, Concepción, Chile and is sponsored, in part, by the US Embassy, Chile. Researchers, artists, designers, and communicators across disciplines play a key role in impacting critical challenges by creating new ways of visualizing ideas, sharing knowledge and engaging new audiences. ASKXXI creates a platform for artists and scientists to align their investigations, learn new visualization methods, share research and collaborate on high impact, creative projects that address critical ecology topics. Our workshops include 3D Illustration, Organic Modeling, Microscopy, Data Visualization, Data Journalism, Virtual [VR], Augmented [AR] and Mixed Reality[XR]). Projects ignited through the program will be shared and exhibited via multiple online and virtual platforms, igniting wider societal conversations about ecology, natural and cultural diversity.
