Making ‘Culture’ Accessible to All! The platform integrates Augmented Reality (AR), Geo Fencing and Multimedia to enhance the visitor experience at the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India in Phase 1, with gradual extension to work on a global mandate in Phase 2. The Content is curated with support from key knowledge partners who are essentially a professional community from Cultural Heritage and Conservation domains. The AR layer enables visitors to interact with relevant points of interest within the heritage sites. The experiences are to be made available in vernacular languages. This component is aligned to UN SDG 11.4 and 10. Augtraveler’s mandate is to further sensitize the masses of the rich cultural heritage of India, which ironically lacks authentic and accurate interpretation despite its richness and value. The platform builds on self-guided AR and Geo location-based heritage trails, which connects host communities directly to travelers, thereby building on their travel experience by focusing on authentic cultural environments, local arts, crafts, culinary delights, etc. This engagement further encourages travelers to buy local authentic products and services directly from the host communities, thereby facilitating evolution of a micro-level socio-economic ecosystem, promoting a ‘sustainable livelihood’ model. The community will also be trained to onboard their local products and services on Augtraveler's Curated Online Marketplace. This component is aligned to UN SDG 8.3, 8.9 and 12.b. Augtraveler has a school outreach program where we have evolved multidisciplinary activities using experiential learning pedagogy, using a World Heritage Site as a premise. The mandate is to help school kids apply their knowledge on concepts picked up in classrooms and evolve these monuments as knowledge dissemination zones. We are reaching out to 25K schools and over 3 million school kids with our partner whilst aligning with SDG 4.7.
