Aurelio Settimo from La Morra produces DOC and DOCG red wines (Barolo, Langhe Nebbiolo and Dolcetto), around 40 bottles in total, exclusively from estate vineyards and vinified according to tradition – long maceration, concrete tanks, big oak barrels (25-33hl). The wines have achieved excellent ratings from international wine magazines and journalists (Decanter, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Jancis Robinson, etc.), eg- BAROLO DOCG 2010 ROCCHE dell’Annunziata (Robert Parker - 94, Wine Enthusiast - 95, Jancis Robinson - 17.5)- still available - BAROLO DOCG 2009 (Wine Enthusiast - 90, Wine Spectator - 90, Jancis Robinson - 16)- BAROLO DOCG 2009 ROCCHE dell’Annunziata (Wine Enthusiast - 90, Wine Spectator - 89, Jancis Robinson - 17, James Suckling - 92, Decanter - 17)- BAROLO DOCG 2008 ROCCHE dell’Annunziata (James Suckling - 95, Jancis Robinson - 17+) The older vintages, till 2005, are still available. Our mission is: Focus on QUALITY and respect the TRADITION. On 5.67 hectares (14 acres) we grow NEBBIOLO grapes – in which 3.42 hectares of the estate’s nebbiolo face SOUTH - SOUTH-WEST on what is considered to be one of the finest crus: ROCCHE DELL’ANNUNZIATA; the classic BAROLO DOCG is produced from the remaining 2.25 hectares of Nebbiolo, facing SOUTH-EAST and 0.97 hectares are planted with DOLCETTO. The rich, clayey-calcareous soil of the ROCCHE combines with the altitude (approx. 270 m. a.s.l.) and position to produce full-bodied yet soft and very fragrant Barolo. The production is about bottles/ year (max. bottles of Barolo Docg – in which bottles can be declassified to Langhe Nebbiolo, bottles of Barolo Rocche, and of Dolcetto d’Alba).
