In Oud-Turnhout ligt het voormalig augustijner klooster de Priorij van Corsendonk waaraan Corsendonk zijn naam dankt, In de 19e eeuw brouwde Brouwerij Keersmaekers reeds Patersbier, maar 1982 startte de familie Keersmaekers, in opdracht van het Turnhoutse met de productie van Corsendonk bier, De bieren, gebrouwen door Brasserie du Bocq, kennen internationaal een groot succes, Sinds oktober 2015 is de familie Keersmaekers 100% eigenaar van Brasserie du Bocq.
