The Centre for Semiotic Applications was established in the Department of Semiotics at Tartu University in June 2022. The Department of Semiotics is one of the most important centres of semiotics in Europe and has extensive experience with semiotic application projects resolving complex environmental, cultural, and social problems. The mission of the Centre for Semiotic Applications is to promote the application of semiotic theories in decision-making processes and in the context of communication, and encourage decision-making based on scientific research. Centre for Semiotic Application: conducts analysis that offer solutions to complex cultural, social, and environmental problems, offers expertise and consultations, designs educational programs and offers training courses, participates in the work experience program of the Department of Semiotics and organises work placement for students, introduces and promotes semiotic applications to the public, and develops international collaborations in the field of semiotic application.
