The Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR) was established in March, 2018 by the Beijing Municipal Government and seven premier institutions in Beijing. Founded to be a pillar of the Chinese Brain Initiative, CIBR aims to support a vibrant interdisciplinary program in neuroscience and its related disciplines, with both basic and applied research aiming ultimately to improve human health. CIBR will also take responsibility for coordinating research institutes and managing research programs under the guidance of the Chinese Brain Initiative and Beijing Brain Initiative and making Beijing the world epicenter for neuroscience and brain-inspired computation. CIBR is governed by the Board of Trustees (BOT), which appointed Dr. Yi Rao from Peking University and Dr. Minmin Luo from NIBS as co-directors of CIBR. The CIBR campus is located at the Beijing Zhongguancun Life Science Park, a purpose-built high-technology center for biomedical research and pharmaceutical innovation that hosts top institutions, hospitals, and national and international biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. By nurturing an international cooperation in an innovatively efficient research environment, we are building a truly excellent research institution focused on achieving milestone breakthroughs in brain science, committed to solving major national challenges, and devoted to educating future generations of top-flight brain scientists. We have been forming an outstanding and international research team(50 internationally-selected PIs and researchers within 5 years ); we have first-class facilities ( m2 research space, 10 state-of-the-art core facilities, excellent engineering and technical support teams, and 30K animal cages ); we have excellent joint graduate and postdoctoral programs with Peking University, Tsinghua University, Peking Union Medical College, Beijing Normal University, China Agricultural University, Capital Medical University and Nankai University.
