Cogen Power Technologies (Cogen), is an award-winning energy consulting firm and authority in cogeneration technology, operations, and power system optimization. For over a decade, Cogen has provided specialized energy services for hospitals and other public and private sector institutions across the Northeast. Our business is cogeneration - plain and simple. As a CHP program manager, integrator, and operator, Cogen provides client-focused comprehensive cogeneration solutions. Cogen has worked with a number of hospitals and institutions - including Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Albany Medical Center, UMASS Memorial Medical Center, and St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center - to deliver successful cogeneration/CHP projects from feasibility studies to planning and design through build-out and operation. Since 2007, we developed and currently own and operate a cogeneration microgrid (Burrstone Energy Center) that serves adjacent Hospital and College campuses, and has produced over 140 Million kWh of electricity. Our comprehensive approach to cogeneration starts from the initial feasibility stage through planning and design, regulatory compliance and permitting, utility and regulatory coordination, facility/plant construction, to implementation and operation, as required. Cogen leads an established and proven team – with a national general contractor and top engineering firm – to provide design-build and turnkey CHP solutions and meet the need of the healthcare, college/university, multi-family, manufacturing, and commercial industries. Along with assisting clients through the process, we currently own and operate a cogeneration plant which gives us a unique advantage and expertise in understanding the complexities of the development process from both sides of the table.
