COMED Therapeutics is a biotechnology company developing potentially first-in-class intracellular therapies. Founded in 2019, now headquartered at the Malta Life Sciences Park, COMED is advancing novel technologies that deliver antibodies, proteins, peptides, and RNA directly into cells—unlocking disease targets long considered “undruggable.” Our patented platform enables the delivery of therapeutic molecules into the cellular interior. Combined with our portfolio of patented engineered antibodies, this dual approach creates new opportunities to overcome the limitations of conventional biologics and treat diseases driven by intracellular mechanisms. Three therapeutic candidates are advancing through preclinical research. The lead program in pancreatic cancer, the deadliest of all major cancers, directly targets oncogenic drivers inside tumor cells. Additional programs are focused on spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a devastating neuromuscular disorder, and malaria, one of the world’s most persistent health burdens. Validation studies have demonstrated our platform’s ability to enter cancer cells and block mutant signaling proteins responsible for tumor growth—a milestone with strong first-in-class potential. This positions COMED for accelerated development pathways, including Breakthrough Therapy and Orphan Drug opportunities. Our progress is supported by competitive funding and national recognition, including two separate research grants from Xjenza Malta—one for malaria and another for cancer—as well as innovation financing from Malta Enterprise. Operating from a state-of-the-art laboratory and supported by strategic European partnerships, COMED’s team of exceptional scientists—with expertise in molecular biology, genetics, pharmacokinetics, and other medical fields—is united by a clear purpose: redefining the concept of precision medicine by reaching inside the cell, developing therapies designed to strike with accuracy and leave everything else untouched.
