Cremed

CREMed is a joint undertaking of the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and the European Institute of the Mediterranean created in November 2008. It is located in Barcelona, at the Ciutadella Campus (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) of the Barcelona GSE, a few-minutes walk from the Mediterranean Coast. The objective of the Center is to promote high quality economic research on development, with a special focus on the Mediterranean region. Our aim is also to study the economic relationship between the European Union and Mediterranean countries, monitoring the economic dimensions of the European Neighbourhood Policy. Supported by the Barcelona Development Research Group, our task is to promote collaboration among Mediterranean economic-research centers interested in theoretical and empirical research, with a view to stimulating academic dialogue and joint networks. We organize various kinds of activities, including international conferences, workshops, lectures and visiting professors programs. We also promote the exchange and dissemination of scientific knowledge through the publication of reports, working papers and books produced by our researchers. All our researchers, affiliated researchers and visiting fellows are strongly committed to CREMed's ultimate mission: to contribute to a better understanding of the economic forces and dynamics that influence development in countries and societies. The Scientific Advisory Council of CREMed is in charge of assisting in the definition of the strategic research lines. The CREMed Overseeing Committee is responsible for supporting the Director of CREMed, validating the strategic research lines and admitting candidates to work at CREMed.
