Irb Barcelona
We are a biomedical research centre that works to achieve a society free of diseases. Our research purpose is to address fundamental biological questions in order to decipher why diseases develop and find new ways to diagnose, prevent and treat them. Our Institute holds more than 500 scientists and support staff from 41 nationalities. It is organised around three major research challenges: Cancer Science, Aging and Metabolism, and Mechanisms of Disease. The Institute was created by the Catalan government in 2005 and is located at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB). IRB Barcelona is a CERCA center, a member of BIST and is the first biomedical research center to be awarded four consecutive times with the "Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence" by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. IRB Barcelona's ultimate objective is to translate research results to patients. To this purpose, it has already established six active spin-off companies: Accure Therapeutics, Inbiomotion, Nostrum Biodiscovery, Ona Therapeutics, Gate2Brain, and Nuage Therapeutics.

CARTIF Foundation is a leading Spanish Applied Research Centre in terms of R&D and technology transfer activities. The Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is a centre that forms part of the CERCA system of research centres of the Government of Catalonia (Spain), and which was established as a partnership of four institutions: the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Institute for Agri-Food Research and Technology (IRTA), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the University of Barcelona (UB). The CIC nanoGUNE is a research center established in 2009 with the mission of addressing basic and applied world-class research in nanoscience and nanotechnology, fostering high-standard training and education of researchers in this field, and promoting the cooperation among the different agents in the Basque Science, Technology, and Innovation Network (Universities and Technological Centers) and between these agents and the industrial sector. The Spanish National Cancer Research Centre is a public institution of excellence committed to research, diagnosis and treatment for cancer. The CNIO currently houses 22 Research Groups, organised in 7 Scientific Programmes, plus 5 Clinical Research Unit(s) that work closely with several hospitals. These scientific groups are supported by 19 Core Units that provide state-of-the-art facilities and technical expertise. Gaiker Technology Centre
GAIKER, member of Basque Research and Technology Alliance, BRTA, is a Technology Centre located in the Technological Park of Bizkaia and is devoted to the up-take of own knowledge and to the development of new technologies that are later transferred to customers coming from sectors such as the pharmaceutical, dermocosmetics, food, health, environment, chemistry, recycling, transport, construction, packaging, among others. From 1985, the Centre has carried more than 2,400 R&D Projects related to its Knowledge Areas: Biotechnology, Sustainable Composites and Functional Polymers and Recycling and Circular Economy. Besides its activity in R&D, GAIKER offers to its customers Advanced Technological Services, Analysis and Tests and Technological Dissemination Services. GAIKER, which at present counts on 103 employees, obtained in 2019 the certification of its R&D&i Management System in accordance with UNE 166002 standard, which added to the rest of certifications and accreditations of the Centre, guarantees the quality of its work.

Institute For Bioengineering Of Catalonia Ibec
The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) conducts excellent interdisciplinary research at the frontiers of engineering and life sciences in order to generate new knowledge by putting together fields like nanomedicine, biophysics, biotechnology, tissue engineering and the applications of health information technology. IBEC was established in 2005 by the Ministries of Innovation, Universities and Enterprises and Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Autonomous Government of Catalonia), the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). Today, IBEC’s relationship with the UB and UPC researchers continues to operate under a framework agreement signed in 2008. The institute currently has 22 research groups and 318 researchers and staff from 37 different countries. The location of IBEC in the Parc Científic de Barcelona offers a highly stimulating biomedical environment in which the institute can work closely with organisations from the public and private sector interested in the biomedical application of nanotechnology. IBEC is part of a new wave of research initiatives set up in the last decade, with shared interests and points of view concerning how to advance the frontiers of knowledge in experimental science to benefit clinical and biomedical research. The common denominator shared by these new initiatives is their focus on the enormous challenge of how to make life science quantitative on any scale, taking full advantage of the unprecedented power of the convergence between nano, bio and ICT. The knowledge that exists in the IBEC research groups is structured in three broad avenues of knowledge: nanomedicine, cellular and tissue engineering and ICT for health.
