Dswd Tara Basa Tutoring Program

The Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program (TBTP) is a developmental and reformatted educational assistance initiative of the Department that provides financial support to low-income families and college students while empowering the youth to take an active role in nation-building as “Kabataan sa Bagong Pilipinas.” It engages youth as tutors and Youth Development Workers (YDWs), allowing them to contribute meaningfully to social development and demonstrating civic responsibility, volunteerism, and compassion through service to others under the Cash-for-Work (CFW) modality. As a developmental social protection program, TBTP contributes to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Nos. 1 and 4, which aim to end poverty in all its forms and ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all. It also advances the Administration’s vision of Bagong Pilipinas, where every young Filipino is equipped to contribute meaningfully to nation-building through leadership, innovation, and social responsibility. The program enhances college students’ soft and life skills, including leadership, communication, emotional intelligence, adaptability, and self-motivation, while preparing them to become productive citizens and future community leaders. Through its dual focus on education and empowerment, the Program promotes intergenerational learning and shared accountability for children’s development. The TBTP meaningfully contributes to the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023–2028, particularly Chapters 1, 2, 5, and 6, and supports AmBisyon Natin 2040 by integrating youth engagement, family empowerment, and literacy development into a unified, multi-sectoral initiative. It also advances DSWD Strategic Objective No. 3, reducing clients’ vulnerabilities, by providing financial assistance to low-income families while nurturing a generation of Kabataan sa Bagong Pilipinas who embody malasakit, voluntarism in their communities.
