Durango Mountain Camp

Durango Mountain Camp (DMC) offers a transformative 5 ½ week language immersion experience specifically designed for dyslexic students ages 11-16, with a special day camp option for ages 9-16. At DMC, we believe in a personalized approach that fosters growth in both academic and personal development. Our daily program includes one-on-one Orton-Gillingham-based tutoring, individualized study halls, composition practice, and both oral and silent reading time. With this tailored support, students often make significant strides in their language skills, advancing through multiple levels by the end of the summer. Beyond academics, Durango Mountain Camp provides an unforgettable summer adventure. Our unique outdoor activities—including hiking, rock climbing, paddleboarding, rafting, mountain biking, and more—encourage creativity, boost self-esteem, and help campers discover and build on their individual strengths. These hands-on experiences not only offer challenges that spark enthusiasm, but also create lasting memories. The confidence gained from mastering these outdoor pursuits often carries over into a more positive mindset and attitude, which can stay with our campers well beyond their time at DMC.
