Fable Mexico

The Food, Agriculture, Biodiversity, Land, and Energy (FABLE) consortium was launched by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) to develop consistent global and national pathways towards sustainable land use and food systems by 2050. Land use choices affect five critical areas of sustainable development:(i) food production,(ii) greenhouse gas biodiversity conservation including forest conservation,(iv) freshwater availability, and (v) air and water pollution. Under current land-use patterns, none of these areas are sustainable. FABLE, with the help of partners around the world, aims to deliver rapid results that can inform global and national discussions on the implementation of the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement. The Mexico chapter of FABLE brings together expertise on an array of topics to develop and assess model projections, improve understanding of local conditions and identify priority areas for public policy.
