Living on the road, too many hotel nights and airport flights to count. Just “sick and tired of being sick and tired”. Something had to change. Changing jobs again wouldn’t solve the problem; tried that over a dozen times in 15 years. The change had to be within me. My midlife transformation started with better diet and exercise. It evolved into a total lifestyle makeover. Consistent walking became running 10-Ks, half-marathons, then marathons. It was a start! Next came less time on the road, a couple more job changes. At 47, I found the job that fit for me, and I stayed for the next 15 years. I learned to accept discomfort and to be present, patient, and consistent. I challenged myself, and risked failure. I learned to trust my own instincts, embrace my creativity, and believe in myself. Self-belief led to greater work satisfaction, better work/life balance, and making better choices.
