Frisenvang

Frisenvang produces and sells sustainable knitting yarn handspun by skilled artisans in a local cooperative in the small village of Marcapata in the Peruvian Andes. The yarns are produced like it has always been done in the Peruvian mountain regions, which is by hand and in accordance with organic methods. Each yarn skein is nursed through the whole production process and Frisenvang yarns are unica products of very high quality made by the best quality of alpaca fibers only (royal and baby) The yarn production for the Danish company ensures both the local alpaca breeders and the artisans in the cooperative an income above the average. Frisenvang is the only customer of the small workshop and this cooperation without middlemen has changed the lives of the women and their families. 30 children now go to school every day and they are no longer malnourished. Frisenvang yarns are sold through own webshop, by selected retailers, and at knitting festivals and in connection with speaches held by the owner Marianne Frisenvang.
