Roberto Gastelumendi is the founder of Gastboards, artist, and master woodworker. Gastboards pieces feature a distinct joinery technique he invented, that combines a high-contrast mix of grain, local and exotic species, patterns, and organic shapes. His ability to convince these woods to join in harmony - defying convention in technique - are a metaphor for the better world Roberto envisions. Self-taught as a woodworker and artist/designer, Roberto offers custom large-scale installation and furniture work, as well as to-the-trade and direct retail marketing with his high-contrast product line of culinary and home accessories. Gastboards products are design-forward and functional. Funky, organic shapes, signature plugs, and a mix of high-contrast and more modern tone-on-tone wood joinery. Exotic and domestic wood sources, utilizing off-cuts for smaller pieces to ensure an ethical practice.
