Hotus & Lotus, the little dinocrocs that teach languages to children! Traute Taeschner, Professor at the University of Rome “Sapienza” and chair of Developmental Psychology of Language and Communication, in collaboration with other Professors of different European Universities, developed an innovative model for teaching languages, called “the narrative format approach”. This approach is not only excellent for the specialized language teachers, but it is also ideal for classroom teachers' staff who have little knowledge of the language they teach. The model effectiveness has been demonstrated thanks to a wide research program carried out on more than 250 teachers and children all over Europe and it is continually tested and given evidence in the thousands of schools that adopted it. The multimedia materials based on this methodology were developed within a series of European Projects financed by the European Commission "Socrates Lingua" and with the support of the Province of Bolzano-Alto Adige, in co-production with the Italian state TV, Rai fiction and the company Musicartoon. The teaching/learning materials, teacher’s kits, DVD cartoons, Books and Cd’s of “The Adventures of Hocus and Lotus” are available in ENGLISH, GERMAN, FRENCH, SPANISH and ITALIAN for 5 levels corresponding to 5 years of teaching.
