Honest People is an exiled civil society organisation dedicated to empowering Belarusians inside Belarus. Born from the 2020 uprising for free and fair elections, where we mobilised 1M+ people, we now drive democratic change through digital media campaigns. In 2024 alone, our civic education content generated 22M+ views nationwide. Our Evolution & Strategy We began as the engine of the 2020 pro-democracy uprising. By mobilising independent observers and empowering 1+ million Belarusians to document electoral fraud, we played a pivotal role in triggering the largest pro-democracy movement in the nation's history. Today, navigating severe repression and censorship in Belarus, we have pivoted to the most scalable and safe instrument for democratic change: education through digital media. What We Do We operate at the intersection of rigorous research, creative multimedia, and digital technology. We don’t just report news; we develop the "software" for a democratic future to help Belarusians regain their civic agency. Media Literacy: We equip Belarusians in Belarus with knowledge and tools to analyse information and resist manipulation Civic education: We create explainers that decode how democratic institutions, local governance, and economies actually work. Democratic Values & Identity: We promote democracy not as an abstract concept, but as a natural part of Belarusian identity and a daily personal need. Civic Agency: We prepare society to take responsibility for the country's future when the window of opportunity opens. Our Impact We act as a digital bridge between Belarusians in Belarus and democracy. In 2024 alone, our content generated over 22 million views, reaching 95% of Belarusian internet users despite censorship and repression. We turn complex political topics into engaging content that resonates deeply, ensuring that democratic ideas remain present in the daily lives of Belarusians.
