Inclusivity Education, Llc
Research to Practice The general assumption in life is that “if you know better, you do better.” However, ample research supports that even if one knows better, the individual may not know how to do better. That is because the general assumption omits a critical step between knowing better and doing better: being scaffolded towards doing better. In education, instructional scaffolding is defined as the support given to a learner by an educator throughout the learning process. At Inclusivity Education (IE), we use comprehensive research and data analysis as the primary tools to scaffold learning by adapting liberatory consciousness (Love, 2013) from theory to practice. A liberatory consciousness requires 1) awareness, 2) analysis, 3) action, and 4) accountability, and we use this process to power the storytelling and activism of IE’s model. When organizations work with us to actualize the IE model in their settings, practices and policies focused on promoting (greater) equity are strengthened and sustained.
