Founded in 1996, KATCO Joint Venture LLP conducts exploration and mines the Muyunkum uranium deposits located in Southern Kazakhstan, about 300 km north of Shymkent. Shareholders are Orano (51%) and Kazatomprom (49%). We employ around 1,200 employees: 72% of them are from the south of Kazakhstan, which makes KATCO the largest employer of the region. Being socially responsible uranium mining company, KATCO gives help to social and vulnerable groups and needy inhabitants of the Sozak district.
