Kgsa Foundation

The KGSA Foundation provides financial and technical support to the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy (KGSA), Kenya's first free high school when it opened in 2006. Today KGSA serves around 150 girls annually in the Kibera slums of Nairobi – the largest informal settlement in Africa. In 20 years, almost 500 girls have graduated from KGSA! Girls whose education would have ended after middle school if KGSA hadn't been there. KGSA's model cares for the whole girl providing not only academics, but also boarding, health care, counseling, meals, access to clean water, sports, extra-curricular clubs and leadership opportunities. The KGSA Foundation also partners with the school to provide higher education scholarships to its graduates to unlock potential, expand opportunities, and enable each girl with the ability to shape her future. We believe that local problems need local solutions. We harness the power of the #girleffect to create a stronger, more resilient Kibera.
