Kicvop Uganda

KICVOP is a fully registered organisation in the community of Kazo, REG. No. WCBO/119/09 (NMC/CBO/578/21) It is located on the outskirts of Kampala-the capital city of Uganda. KICVOP is a community development organisation that works to improve the lives of the community members through education, healthcare and HIV/AIDS awareness projects. The centre is open to the local community members to use the public library and other facilities present. The program has now attracted more support from Israel, The Netherlands, Iceland, Norway and Australia, where coordinating volunteers for all projects work tirelessly to support the works of the organisation. With very devoted local and international staff volunteers, a centre was established, that has managed to acquire a lot of material and financial support used to start a community library, a functional emergency healthcare van (community ambulance), a waste management project and an education sponsorship scheme that enables a number of children from within Kazo to attend school regularly promising them a brighter future. In order for Uganda to move beyond its current status as a third world country, a focused and committed effort needs to be made to address the issues of starvation, lack of education, and self-sufficiency for the family unit. KICVOP has developed a program that supports a family over a 7 year period to achieve these goals. Families enter the KICVOP Family Pathway to Success via the nutrition program in which they receive enough basic food staples to ensure one nourishing meal each day. Chronic starvation has left the children and their families deficient in iron, vitamin A, and other critical micro nutrients. Children are entered into an educational setting as soon sponsors become available to assist with the fees, uniforms, and school supplies as Uganda is not yet able to offer its whole population a free public education. KICVOP is taking the lead to changing the mind so many locals for better.
