Michael Loconto is a Boston-based arbitrator and mediator providing neutral, impartial and independent dispute resolution services for the modern workplace and in commercial matters. Arbitrator Loconto trained with the FMCS Institute and has apprenticed under two NAA members. He has experience in K-12 and higher education, trades, construction (PLAs and jurisdiction), public safety, dining services, athletics, public sector, beverages, financial services and tech workers. Issues include: discipline and discharge; contract interpretation; pay and wage differentials; benefits; disability; discrimination and harassment; FMLA; FLSA; and USERRA. Mike has two decades of experience in labor relations and employment law, and has co-led the LERA Higher Education Industry Council and the District Capacity Project of the Massachusetts Education Partnership. He has presented at LERA and National Center for the Study of Collective Bargaining in Higher Education meetings, and is President of the Boston LERA Chapter. He has taught legal writing and research at Northeastern University School of Law and contracts and bargaining at The Labor Guild, lectured on school law and sports law for undergraduates, and is a member of the board of editors for a recent volume on interest arbitration. Arbitrator Loconto is a member of the labor arbitrator rosters with FMCS (covering 31 states and territories) and state agency rosters in in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington state. He hears rail carrier disputes for the Surface Transportation Board and contract disputes for the City of New York. Mike is also available for union certification processes ("card check") and training on interest-based bargaining techniques. He maintains satellite offices in the District of Columbia, Florida, Missouri, Minnesota and Pennsylvania.
