Love4Bukwo Company Ltd. is a faith-based social enterprise doing humanitarian work in the eastern Ugandan village of Bukwo. We are devoted to transforming healthcare and economic development in East Africa by introducing American medical expertise, education, technology, and partnerships in one of the most remote and medically underserved areas on earth. We cofounders were born and raised in Bukwo, Uganda, and Eldoret, Kenya. We went to the United States where we pursued higher education and raised our family. CEO Peter Ole-Sabay earned a bachelor’s degree in Global Health from Arizona State University and was awarded a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which he applied to teach HIV prevention in Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya. COO Dr. Margaret Sabay is a US Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a PhD in Industrial Psychology. Dr. Sabay worked extensively in urgent care and served as Grand Canyon University’s Chief Infectious Disease Officer. Dr. Sabay has addressed the Uganda Ministry of Health and is consulting on the forthcoming Uganda National Health Policy and Guidelines. On site, we built a mission house and the first restaurant in the area so we can host global health students and visiting medical and humanitarian teams in comfort. In typical Ugandan hospitals, food, bed linens, medicines, and bedside caregiving must be provided by patients’ family or friends. In contrast, we believe that providing nutrition and these other American hospital amenities improve patient outcomes. Our goal is to create a positive ripple effect in the health and economies of East Africa. Healthy people can go to school and work. Plus, we are largest private employer in the area, we pay market rates for agricultural products, and we train residents in healthcare, food safety, food production, and entrepreneurial skills. We are also devoted to collaborating with global health and global development leaders for greater effectiveness around the world.
