Being the most easterly settlement, it is the first place to see the sunrise in the United Kingdom and is home to the most easterly site, Ness Point. Lowestoft is the second largest town in Suffolk, divided into eight wards each with their own distinctive histories, open spaces and parks, and communities. The wards are Elmtree, Gunton, Harbour and Normanston, Kirkley, Pakefield, St Margaret's East, St Margaret's West and Tom Crisp.
