Alternative Luxury. Tapestry flourished in Europe during the Middle Ages and it was up to the artists to produce the working frames and materials that served as the basis for this art, building a journey through time that was explored by various artists creating their linguistic universe. After the industrial revolution the craft concept of this practice was revitalized by the British movement “Arts and Crafts” and later by the “Modernists”. MARIA MAIA connects two distinct universes - fashion and art - in a unique way and in a constant search for the balance between colours, patterns, textures and shapes. Starting from a pattern or fabric, and based on the secular art of tapestry, MARIA MAIA gives space to the individualization of contemporary artistic discourse, with conceptual methodologies that culminate in images of poetic geometry. A unique piece of exquisite handmade clothing that is a "pictorial sculpture", in which each element builds a dialogue between them, allowing you to "wear the art".
