Mbk617
MBK617 has been around since 2014. The organization started because the founders wanted a better community and future for the youth in Boston. The purpose was to create a safe space for the young boys who felt joining a gang would be their only option in life. The organization has also pitched this idea to local gang members and has successfully reached an agreement with older gang members not to allow young boys to join their gangs. MBK617 is familiar with many gang members and has the necessary connections to help influence older gangs into ending recruitment. from 2014-2017, MBK617 was simply a group of men doing a good deed in the community. However, in 2017, the founders decided to expand their good deed into a non-profit organization. Because the men were funding everything out of their own pockets, they decided it was time to seek assistance, partnerships, and further resources available to help keep the organization running. The organization saw success in the number of young boys who were doing well for themselves, staying safe, and staying out of trouble. It was evident that the organization was making a difference and needed to continue.
