Oak Garden

Oak Garden is located in Raploch, Stirling. The Oak Garden team aims to play a small but meaningful part in the broader desire to regenerate the neighbourhood and give new opportunities to unused space. It was not long ago that the site of Oak Garden was merely a dumping ground, overgrown and ran down after years of neglect. Work is underway to breathe new life into this forgotten space and make it a multifunctional garden that will enrich the lives of people in the local and wider community and increase biodiversity. Alexia Forschner, who is heading the team, has a vision of how this invaluable local asset could become a hub for local schools and citizens to learn new skills, gain confidence, enjoy while socializing, and with the therapeutic benefits of gardening. Also, the garden can be used to provide work experience and vocational rehabilitation. We can see the potential this area has for growing an abundance of crops with its sheltered position and fertile ground. Together with Thomas Trull and Joe Swindells, we are working on developing the garden into a place where people would increase their knowledge and skills from gardening and food while enjoying their community.
