For 20 years, Obesity Canada has been the leading national non-profit organization dedicated to changing how Canada sees, supports, and understands people affected by obesity. We are the voice for those affected by this chronic disease, working tirelessly to eliminate stigma and ensure access to equitable, effective care. Obesity is a chronic disease, influenced by biology, environment, and genetics—not simply willpower. Yet, pervasive stigma acts as a barrier to effective treatment and equitable care for many Canadians. Here’s how we’re driving change- Through research, we help advance the science of obesity to uncover better treatments and improve health outcomes- Through education, we equip healthcare professionals and the public with the information and tools they need to challenge stigma and bias, foster empathy, and access evidence-based treatments- Through advocacy, we fight for policies and programs that ensure equitable care and better access to evidence-based treatments.
