Ocean GeoLoop develops and industrializes innovative green technologies with global scaling potential. The company was established as an offshoot of the research project Ocean, initiated by Hans Gude Gudesen in 2006. Ocean GeoLoop is based on long-term systematic research and method development, connected in a holistic concept with the aim of solving the greatest challenges of our time – a combined climate, environment and resource crisis. THE CHALLENGE Currently, more than 80% of the energy produced globally each year is generated through fossil fuel combustion, resulting in more than 37 gigatons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. As a result, atmospheric CO2 concentrations have risen from less than 300 parts per million (ppm) to more than 400 ppm over the last 100 years, contributing substantially to global warming and climate change. OUR SOLUTIONS The Ocean GeoLoop Carbon Capture solution is characterized by several unique capacities: 100% clean: Separation of CO2 from flue-gas uses no harmful chemicals, no toxic materials and produces no pollutants 100% capture: A new and unique process for capturing and storing CO2 emissions from point sources, removing as close to 100% of CO2 from the flue-gas as practically measurable 100% self-financed: Integrated in the future GeoLoop Carbon Capture solution will be an electricity generation module, the e-Loop, a novel and proprietary hydropower system. The e-Loop can produce electricity from low grade (< 100 C) waste heat sources (e.g. flue-gas). Our ambition is to deliver a capacity sufficient to supply all power required by the carbon capture process. In addition, sale of surplus power will allow coverage of related CAPEX/OPEX costs.
