OffWestEnd is the UK’s independent theatre hub, supporting and recognising work presented across more than 200 venues in London and beyond. We provide sector-wide infrastructure for visibility, assessment, data, and recognition, ensuring independent theatre is properly represented within the wider cultural landscape — sustaining grassroots and established careers alike. We operate the OffWestEnd Awards (Offies), one of the most largest and comprehensive theatre awards processes in the world. Each year, our assessor cohort — made up of industry professionals and enthusiasts — reviews hundreds of productions across eight Areas of Exceptional Contribution. Our unique three-tiered process provides a consistent, transparent and rigorous process for identifying excellence in performance, directing, design, music, writing, innovation, and inclusive practice. As we celebrate 20 years since our inception, OffWestEnd is currently undertaking a major digital expansion through OffWestEnd 2.0, integrating listings, assessments, awards management, membership, and venue data into a single connected platform. This transformation strengthens sector infrastructure, improves transparency and accessibility, and offers long-term stability for independent theatres and the artists working within them.
