Once Upon A Doug

Over farmers have committed suicide in India in the last 15 years due to financial hardships, leaving behind their wives & children to deal with the situation. This is the largest number of suicides in human history and the region these women are located is the worst hit part of the crisis. But these women are fighters and that's where Doug comes in! Doug is helping this community of female farmers earn a sustainable supplementary income as well as raising awareness of their story to the world. These women cotton farmers hand-make Doug (meaning cloud in Marathi) from recycled fabrics to create a stylish bracelet. They are paid for every Doug they make, plus 100% percent of the money raised goes back to the community. This project empowers the women and symbolises their struggles and their strengths.
