One For Ireland

One for Ireland is a non-profit that hopes to raise €1 million for one cause each April. This year the cause will be Youth Mental Health and the campaign will run for 1 weekend from April 28th to Monday 1st May 2017. One for Ireland wanted to incorporate charitable donations into people’s daily lives. The majority of funds are raised through retailers, whereby customers can add €1 to their bill in over retailers nationwide on the day. People can give in a multitude of other ways including various platforms and movements online as well as text and mobile. On 29th April 2016, One for Ireland raised €172,633 for Youth Homelessness. The reason for asking for just €1 is to create a sustainable, affordable and therefore reliable form of fundraising, in contrast to the more traditional form of fundraising: asking for a large sum of money from a small amount of people instead of asking for a small sum of money from a large amount of people. By uniting the small impact of each individual in Ireland, One for Ireland possesses the power to make a significant and lasting difference. We make a difference by distributing the funds to 7-9 organisations (both national and local) that can make a real and positive impact to the chosen cause and the issues that face them. One for Ireland is in partnership with the Irish Youth Foundation, which whom it will work with for a 3-year period (2016-2018). As well as that, One for Ireland has received support from many other organisations including Ulster Bank, PayPal, Irish International, as well as having the backing of major charities like The Peter McVerry Trust, Focus Ireland, The Simon Communities and SVP. One for Ireland is made up of a team of recent graduates, with 100% of publicly raised funds going directly to the charities.
