Aphasia Ireland
Aphasia is a neurological disorder caused by damage to the portions of the brain that are responsible for language. Primary signs of the disorder include difficulty in expressing oneself when speaking, trouble understanding speech, and difficulty with reading and writing. Aphasia has a very considerable impact on a large number of Irish people. The negative effects on our society are largely ignored or underestimated. The fact that up to people are diagnosed with this condition each year goes unreported and largely unacknowledged. It is truly the hidden disability. Once sufferers have been treated for the acute symptoms of their brain damage they are discharged back into the community with limited or no services. Many continue to make progress with their linguistic goals but it is apparent that psychosocial support is crucial in helping them adjust to living with long term Aphasia. Group therapy is a most effective way of providing treatment for chronic Aphasia. Aphasia is not a disease, but a symptom of brain damage. Most commonly seen in adults who have suffered a stroke, aphasia can also result from a brain tumour, infection, head injury, or dementia that damages the brain. It is estimated that about people in Ireland today suffer from Aphasia.

I lead projects at the intersection of EV infrastructure and software—helping fleets and energy providers move faster, cheaper, and with fewer mistakes. I’ve built chargepoint software, scaled depot and HGV hub infrastructure, worked directly with OEMs and fleet operators, and delivered commercial deals across the UK and Ireland. I’m technically strong. I’ve founded and exited two startups, built and led cross-functional teams, and worked hands-on with APIs, telemetry, energy platforms, and hardware. I know how to move from prototype to product—fast. I’ve got deep links across the fleet sector, including funding partners, infrastructure teams, and vehicle OEMs. I’ve supported several local authorities and councils with EV strategy, helping them shape practical deployment plans that actually work on the ground. My recent work includes: Leading commercial rollout for EV charging hubs for electric trucks and vans Building a vehicle-integrated SaaS platform with telematics, auto-charge, and billing features Supporting depot electrification for national and multi-national fleets I’m not afraid to roll up my sleeves—whether it’s early go-to-market planning or real-world delivery of strategic sales. I thrive in messy environments: early-stage tech, infrastructure deployment, and multi-stakeholder projects. I bring clarity, pace, and a bias to act. Looking to help teams solve difficult electrification or energy transition problems,full-time or contract.

One For Ireland
One for Ireland is a non-profit that hopes to raise €1 million for one cause each April. This year the cause will be Youth Mental Health and the campaign will run for 1 weekend from April 28th to Monday 1st May 2017. One for Ireland wanted to incorporate charitable donations into people’s daily lives. The majority of funds are raised through retailers, whereby customers can add €1 to their bill in over retailers nationwide on the day. People can give in a multitude of other ways including various platforms and movements online as well as text and mobile. On 29th April 2016, One for Ireland raised €172,633 for Youth Homelessness. The reason for asking for just €1 is to create a sustainable, affordable and therefore reliable form of fundraising, in contrast to the more traditional form of fundraising: asking for a large sum of money from a small amount of people instead of asking for a small sum of money from a large amount of people. By uniting the small impact of each individual in Ireland, One for Ireland possesses the power to make a significant and lasting difference. We make a difference by distributing the funds to 7-9 organisations (both national and local) that can make a real and positive impact to the chosen cause and the issues that face them. One for Ireland is in partnership with the Irish Youth Foundation, which whom it will work with for a 3-year period (2016-2018). As well as that, One for Ireland has received support from many other organisations including Ulster Bank, PayPal, Irish International, as well as having the backing of major charities like The Peter McVerry Trust, Focus Ireland, The Simon Communities and SVP. One for Ireland is made up of a team of recent graduates, with 100% of publicly raised funds going directly to the charities.
