One With The Ocean

Our journey began as a group of ocean swimmers, concerned by the trash we encountered during our swims. What started with small beach cleanups before our weekly outings soon evolved into a movement, eventually establishing us as a 501(c)(3) organization. Over time, we became more aware of the stark inequities in access to the beach and water, realizing how the demographics of Southern California’s coastlines didn’t reflect the diversity of its communities. During the pandemic, when pools were closed, we reached a few miles inland to mentor children from underserved neighborhoods. Seeing the pure joy on their faces as they stepped into the ocean for the first time was a defining moment. Since that November day in 2020, we’ve introduced over disadvantaged youth to the wonders of aquatic activities. But our mission doesn’t stop here. From the pool to the ocean, from beginner swim lessons to surfing, we believe that access to the water is a right, not a privilege. We are committed to expanding these experiences to even more young people, creating a world where everyone can safely enjoy the beauty and freedom of the water.
