OTHERwise is a social enterprise specializing in data, research, analysis, and capacity building. We are dedicated to bridging the gap between research and practice and improving accountability in both. We envision a future where science is open, knowledge is a global public good, scientific and community-driven knowledge systems are integrated, and research is conducted with integrity, equity, inclusivity, and openness. We drive social change by advancing research inquiry, facilitating the equitable redistribution of knowledge worldwide, and empowering disenfranchised communities to lead development narratives that impact their lives. Research is our calling and commitment, not just a profession. We come together as a community of practice, working to transform global knowledge flows and reshape development so it serves all. Our aspiration extends beyond financial gain: It is the cascading benefits of our work that drive us, and the firm belief that knowledge could – and should – be approached differently: holistically, collaboratively, creatively, and with a transformative impact in mind. This philosophy guides everything we do, fostering an environment where curiosity meets purpose, and where the rewards of our efforts ripple outward - benefitting not just those directly involved, driving grassroots progress and innovation that uplifts society and sustains our planet. Our mission is threefold: 1. To cultivate a nurturing environment in response to the increasing precariousness within the research community, ensuring researchers feel valued, respected, and well-resourced as a precursor to improving the quality of science; 2. To transform global knowledge flows, by sharing resources and holding space for underserved communities to produce locally-grounded evidence and drive equitable and sustainable progress and programming; 3. To be a learning partner for a diverse network of actor, and work with them to reshape development so it serves all.
