Parks Work

Parks Work provides protected area management planning services, management and operational scans and protected area evaluations as well as guidance, hands-on tools and information to support protected area staff and managers in their day to day work. With more and more protected areas coming on-line, especially coastal and marine, protected area managers and staff need all the help they can get to protect the natural resources in their care as effectively as possible. Whilst there is a wealth of information on line, for example IUCN publications, most protected area staff to not have the time or available expertise to review and distil out the practical tools and advice they need. Effective management, balancing nature conservation and sustainable resource use, requires sound planning, strong institutions, hard work, access to the right information and tools. With over 50 years collective experience in park management Duncan MacRae and Kalli De Meyer aim to provide tools, templates, best practices and resources via social media and the web so that protected area staff can literally ‘grab and go’.
