Petra AIR Foundation did celebrate 5 years in February 2025! Firstly supporting mainly women with ill kids has changed its purpose to support women in aerospace with respect to men and women equally. This idea comes from the book Girls in the Spitfire where in II WW women took an important role in winning the Battle in Britain by supporting the fighter pilots, providing ATC, administration etc. Nowadays there is a shortcut of skillful workers in all kind of positions in aerospace industry. There will be necessity for more workers in two decades according to Airbus and Boeing stats. Our solution is seen in supporting women in aerospace in the same way that women support aviation during the II WW. Royal AIR Force museum stated on their webpage that their role where "crucial" in order tu win the Battle over Great Britain. Nowdays (2021) there is only 6% of female pilots in airlines. Other STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) careers have more equal representation. According to ISA+21, 44% of medical doctors are female. In the Czech Republic there are 79% of women in health care, from which 58, 28% are women doctors (2015). In the beginning of 19th century there were nearly non female doctors.* So what'prevening women to work in aerospace according to us? 1) lower self esteem (questions like am I good enough? Can I do it?) 2) lack of role models As to the stats, there is significantly less women that men on the whole scope of position in the field. Little girls are rather go for career of stewardess which they've seen that a female pilot e.g. 3) combine family life with demanding aerospace industry Women want to have a family and they have every right to do so. Only women naturally tend to take care of children more than men and need to adjust
