Podere Brizio

A jewel in the Montalcino hills, Podere Brizio estate is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves that face in a southwesterly direction, towards the coast. The marine-origin sand and loam soil cover marl and limestone dating back more than 100 million years, making this the perfect terroir for our vineyards, according to a sustainable philosophy that is respectful of the soil and the natural lifecycle of the vines. 33 hectares of land, including over 11 hectares planted to Sangiovese and two hectares of olive trees, all based on Organic agricolture. The wine is produced as the finest expression of the land due to the detail-oriented endeavours in the vineyards, aimed at keeping the soil vibrant, healthy and teeming with microbial activity. Fermentation takes place in steel vats using solely native yeast to preserve the aromas and flavours of the grapes. Wines are refined according to local tradition, in 54 hl untoasted French Allier oak barrels, developing complexity although maintaining fruitiness. Come un gioiello fra le colline di Montalcino, Podere Brizio, circondato da oliveti e vigneti, guarda a sud-ovest, in direzione del mare. Il terreno sabbio-limoso, di origini marine, poggia su marne e calcari di oltre cento milioni di anni, rendendo il luogo ideale per allevare le vigne seguendo una filosofia produttiva sostenibile, rispettosa dei suoli e del ciclo naturale della vite. L’azienda vanta trentatré ettari di superficie totale, di cui oltre undici coltivati a Sangiovese e due ad oliveta. Il vino viene prodotto interpretando al meglio l’ambiente circostante, grazie ad un lavoro in vigna atto a preservare il terreno vivo, sano, ricco di interazioni microbiche. La fermentazione avviene in tini di acciaio con il solo uso di lieviti indigeni, in modo da preservare le proprietà organolettiche dell’uva. L’invecchiamento avviene in grandi botti di rovere non tostato dell’Alliers, conferendo complessità ma al tempo stesso mantenendo frutto e freschezza.
