Quinta Da Atela
The history of Quinta da Atela, in Alpiarça, dates back to the 14th century, more specifically to 1346, when its name was still Quinta da Goucha e Atela and its owner Afonso Telo de Menezes, Count of Ourém and Barcelos, son-in-law of D. Nuno Álvares Pereira. It was later donated to a religious order, the Convent of Graça in Santarém. At the end of the 20th century, the estate was bought by Isidoro Maria de Oliveira, founder of a great portuguese sausage company. In 2017, it was bought by its current owners, entrepreneurs Anabela Tereso and Fernando Vicente, a power couple linked to a big farming and livestock holding, VALGRUPO. In addition to an exceptional range of wines, the company has one of the most beautiful wine tourism facilities of the Tejo region, offering unique experiences that combine wine culture — tastings and more — with lodging and events. All of this culminated in 2022, with Quinta da Atela being awarded the prize for “Best Wine Tourism” in the Tejo region.
