Sloyd Experience

Slöyd Experience is an educational nonprofit organization that uses traditional woodworking to offer an authentic, hands-on learning experience not offered in traditional educational systems. Slöyd is a historical Scandinavian method of education that used woodworking to develop character in children. Today, our aim is to do just that - to provide an authentic, hands-on experience for youth that is not traditionally found in our educational systems or extracurriculars. This unique educational experience is not aimed to develop children into carpenters or woodworkers, but solely to develop their character. Although this is a historical method, its relevancy will forever remain true.
