Standard 5&10 Ace

Standard 5 & 10 Ace has been San Francisco's "one stop variety store" since 1939. This locally-owned hardware/housewares/toy/gift variety retailer continues to add to their product mix based on customer requests, as evidenced by the addition of Stan's Kitchen in 2015, an upscale kitchen and gourmet annex to the 5 & 10, following the addition of no-VOC paint in December 2014. Recent renovations have expanded paint, tools, electrical and plumbing items, expanded toys and crafts aisles, plus reorganized many other departments. Standard 5 & 10 Ace is alive and well in Laurel Village, still family-owned and operated. The store boasts a loyal customer base, many of whom shopped at the 5 & 10 as children, and now bring their own children to the store! Over the years the employees have taken great pride in serving their customers. Standard’s mission is to continue to provide a clean, well-stocked variety store where customers can find a vast array of merchandise and the best service around. Owner Jeff Leopold’s theory is that the customer is the star of the show, and he and General Manager Troy are often seen on the floor in Laurel Village helping a valued customer find the precise knicknack needed for a project. Jeff's wife Michelle is active behind the scenes, doing charitable contributions and marketing. Troy Welch joined the management team in 2015 with plans for streamlining processes and expanding efficiencies and operations. In keeping with a 79 year tradition of customer service and selection, the Leopolds opened Marin Ace Hardware in San Rafael nearly seven years ago, on December 15, 2011, and Troy, Jeff and Michelle took over ownership of the landmark Laurel Ace in Oakland's Laurel District (no relation to Laurel Village, just great synergy!). Now customers have three stores to find solutions to their projects, with a great variety of competitively-priced quality goods, and great service too. All three stores are proudly local with a focus on unmatched customer service, and a belief in being part of and giving back to the local community year-round.
