The publisher has read the book, applauded, and promptly changed the book’s title to what he said it’s really about. The new title - Stroke Victor, How to Go from Stroke Victim to Stroke Victor. I stepped back and thought to myself, he’s right! That’s why he is the publisher and I’m not. He said to me at Starbucks recently, “Look, your book is not just another stroke recovery story. Yes, they are important and heartfelt, but I wouldn’t have published a book like that. That’s for the self publishers.” Michael said, “Let’s be clear, your book is not a memoir. Your book has important after stroke lessons and techniques for people to learn of. How many people know about the alternative therapies you used or how to get involved with post-stroke clinical research? How many know how to proactively manage their physical therapy to maximize their gains? Damn few.” Michael continued, “I wouldn’t know where to start. You explain technologies in simple English that even I understand and then lead the reader by the hand, the survivors, caregivers, friends and families. When you told me about all of the alternative therapies you tried and used, I didn’t know anything about them. I never heard of them, nor did anyone else I know. So, that’s what attracted me to you. You developed a unique approach that you are now sharing. You walked the walk, now it’s your turn to talk, the talk.” They will be inspired! And you do it without disparaging the more traditional medicine. In fact, you applaud your therapy teams. Michael continued smiling, “And finally, after a stroke like you had how many people would have the guts to go, on their own, half way around the world to Australia and New Zealand without even the assistance or structure of a tour?
