The handmade industry is presenting an expansion opportunity for investors. The forecast shows that it will be an influential industry in the global economy. Many are resorting to handmade production because of low capital and increased tourism activities. The industry is becoming lucrative because elites prefer handmade productsAs an industry introduction, the team previously stated, “The artisanal handicraft industry is one of the informal sectors that have persevered and survived in the era of consumerism. It was feared that the legacy of the industrial revolution and advancement in technology would kill the handmade industry. In the 19th century, the production of handicraft products declined because crafts were time-consuming. Afterwards, in the 20th century, industrial production became a concern because of its effects on the environment, natural resources depletion, and urban migration. The handicraft industry reemerges again to create more jobs in the informal sector and rural areas. Since then, popularity of the industry has been growing annually.Additionally, the project will initially focus the state of West Virginia and the surrounding areas. This area will be the focus for a variety of reasons. First, most of the existing platforms, such as Etsy and Amazon Handmade, primarily focus their marketing and support on West Coast United States. Second, man of the crafters in West Virginia are ideal customers based on the criteria explained in further detail in the Target Market section. Third, existing connections with vendors in the area not only gives us a very unique advantage, but it also allows us to guarantee our ability to obtain our goals detailed in the Financial section.
