Formerly Classical Opera. Under the inspired leadership of conductor and artistic director Ian Page, Classical Opera and The Mozartists present world-class performances of the works of Mozart and his contemporaries on period instruments and is one of the leading interpreters of Mozart’s work. The company is renowned for high-quality performances, imaginative programming and its outstanding track record for discovering and nurturing exceptional young singers. In 2015 Classical Opera launched its ground-breaking MOZART 250 project, described by The Observer as “among the most audacious classical music scheduling ever”. This ambitious 27-year project follows Mozart’s life and career chronologically exactly 250 years later, with performances of all his major works alongside those of his contemporaries who helped shape the musical scene in 18th century Europe.
