The Olde Post Inn

The Olde Post inn was built in the 1800s. It opened as a post office in 1884. It had a number of owners and was for some time derelict before it was renovated into a restaurant with accommodation in early 1990s. It has been run as a restaurant since and was taken over by Gearóid & Tara Lynch in November 2002. Our Ethos - To have a complete dining experience, it is not just about the food or wine it is about the whole package. From the moment that you arrive and are made to feel welcome, been given sincere genuine hospitality right through to a meal which incorporates the very best products to create great but exquisite flavours. Gearóid & Tara Lynch purchased the Olde Post Inn in November 2002. Both from Co. Cavan. Gearoid is the Chef and Tara manages front of house. They live locally with their four children, Órán, Lorcan, Emma and Eoin. Gearóid, having trained in Killybegs Tourism College, gained experience working in such kitchens as Thornton’s restaurant, Dublin, Le Coq Hardi Restaurant, Dublin, as well as various stints in kitchens such as Pied a Tere London & Le Linster, Luxembourg. Gearoid won the Euro toques Baileys Young Chef of the Year in Gearoid held the position of Commissioner General of Euro toques Ireland for a two year term, up until February 2013, and continues to be actively involved in the association. Cookery School Just a minutes’ walk from The Olde Post Inn you will find this hidden cottage in the grounds. At the cookery cottage we host a course with a capacity for 4 guests cooking or 15 theatre style. We provide a personal intimate comfortable setting to share our love for all things food. Whether you wish to get your hands dirty or sit back and have a glass of wine, we hope you are informed, educated and enjoy the experience! We can also provide private or corporate group bookings in the same manner at a time of your choosing.
