The Original Spinners Cic

The Original Spinners are a community dance company based in Bristol. We work in the field of dance and health, delivering weekly dance and well-being sessions to older patients on the wards in 3 hospitals across Bristol and Weston, whilst engaging all patients we have a particular focus and skill in engaging patients living with dementia. We run weekly movement classes in the community for adults with learning disabilities and dance classes for people living with Parkinson’s. We have received a national runner up award at the Patient Experience National Network Awards for our hospital-based dance project. The work that the company delivers helps to bring people together, promotes physical and mental well-being and reduces isolation and loneliness; we create uplifting experiences for people. Since we were founded in 2010, we have created happenings and walkabouts, large-scale community dance performances, intergenerational and care home performances, and community engagement projects. We aim to bring the opportunity for dance, movement and play, with the many benefits it brings, to as many people as possible; particularly for those whose access is limited.
