The Zion

The Zion, located in the midst of the Western Himalaya an ancient British urban concept, become retreat from the heat and dust of the plain in mighty Himalayan Mountains. Shimla came up in the wake of the Ghurkha Wars that came to end in 1816, it grew to become the summer capital of British India. First House built in Shimla by the British was in 1822. Shimla was visited by Lord Amherst British governor general of Indian and later by Lord Combermer’e. In 1864 Shimla was declared summer capital of British Empire in India by Johan Lawrence.
