Toje Wines

TOY-yuh is a German dialect word means a vine’s rootstock, but you won’t find it in a dictionary, nor will it be recognized in other parts of the country. The word only lives in one of many small villages dotting the Mosel River, the village Johannes grew up in, caring for each of the Toje by hand on the steep hillsides. The name Toje is an ode to the ancient craft of working hands-on, both in the vineyards and in the cellar, that Johannes learned in the Mosel Valley and continues to practice here in Sonoma. That attention to detail is something we’ll carry over into each aspect of our brand, from winemaking to serving each and every one of our patrons.
